New Employee Resources
UC Policy on Background Checks
UC policy mandates background checks for all new staff hires and transfers into critical positions. Critical positions encompass roles involving access to or interaction with sensitive areas such as cars, cash, children, keys, computers, and other valuables.
New hires and transfers must complete and pass a background check before commencing their employment or transfer.
Background checks are obligatory for all staff and non-academic student positions, including those with job titles such as STDT 2, STDT 3, STDT 4, and STDT RESEARCHER.
Additionally, background checks are required for all student and staff volunteers, as well as undergraduate students participating in course-related activities, before the commencement of volunteering or participation.
