Overview

Welcome to Facilities and Shop Services for the Department of Physics, serving all units within the School of Physical Sciences (SPS). For all facility-related requests, inquiries, and reports, please email: sps-facilities@ucsd.edu

 

Services and Requests

  • General inquiries regarding School of Physical Sciences buildings

  • Facilities and event support (room configuration, heating/cooling, custodial, etc.)

  • Maintenance and custodial issues – HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, door/window issues, lock repair, missed trash pickup, etc.

  • Follow-up on FM work orders, projects, and service issues

  • Consultation for renovations and refurbishments*

  • Office relocations and equipment moves*

  • Surplus Sales Transfer Requests and electronic waste disposal

  • Helium delivery (recharge service)

*Recharge work is billable to most campus fund sources. Rates vary by project scope and required expertise. Estimates are provided free of charge.

 

How Requests Are Processed

When you email sps-facilities@ucsd.edu, a ticket is created and routed to the appropriate department, which may include:

  • SPS Facilities staff

  • UC San Diego Facilities Management

  • Other service groups (e.g., EH&S; Pest Control; Transportation; ITS/A-V; etc.)

 

Building Access

Keys and Card Access

We can assist with:

  • Key requests

  • Electronic ID card access (please copy your supervisor or PI and include the building and room number(s))

  • Troubleshooting non-working access cards

Before 3:00 p.m. (Weekdays, excluding holidays):
