April 30: Deadline for all graduating students to sign up for the department commencement, vote on potential speakers, list the number of guest tickets they need, and provide graduating student slide show information.

May 1 through May 30: Graduating students order commencement regalia. Please note that formal attire and proper regalia is required for all graduating students. PhD candidates must ensure their regalia includes the required hood. PhD advisors have been invited to the ceremony to hood their students (if a particular advisor is unable to attend, the Graduate Vice Chair will perform the hooding).

June 10 and 11, 8 am - 4 pm: Required ticket and dept. gift pick up from the Physics Student Affairs Office which located in Mayer Hall Addition, room 2623 (MYR-A 2623). Tickets and dept. gifts cannot be picked up at other days and times. During ticket and gift pick-up, graduates will be asked to fill out a name card that indicates how their name should be pronounced at the ceremony.

June 15:

  1. Please note that formal attire and proper regalia is required for all graduating students.

  2. Please allow ample time for parking, as Commencement weekend on campus is extremely busy.

  3. Graduating student check-in with Toni begins at 10:00 a.m. on the outside terrace immediately west of the Price Center Ballroom East (see map to know exactly where to go once you arrive at the Ballroom). All students must be checked in by 10:30 a.m.

  4. Undergraduate and Master's students assemble on the Western Terrance by 10:45 am.

  5. PhD students assemble in the Robing Room by 10:45 am.

During the ceremony, graduates will take an official photo before their name is called and will walk across the stage as their degree is conferred (actual diplomas will not be issued during the ceremony).

Faculty attendees will join the Platform Party onstage during Commencement. No regalia is required; however, we ask that you dress formally in light of the occasion (eg. slacks and blazer).

Faculty attendees must confirm their RSVP with Chair Shpyrko in advance of the event and should arrive no later than 10:30am on Saturday, June 15. Upon arrival, please check in with Toni (see map to know exactly where to go once you arrive at the Ballroom).
