About Us

This chapter of the SPS has been established in order to contribute to the advancement and diffusion of knowledge of physics, the encouragement of interest in physics throughout the academic and local communities, and the introduction of students to the professional community.

Membership

Membership to the SPS is open to anyone. There are no fees to join the UCSD chapter.

Membership to the national SPS, however, does require a $20.00 annual dues ($30.00 for those with non-US addresses). This is to cover the cost of the society's service. members of the national SPS receive a membership card and may purchase lapel emblems or pins.

With the $20.00 dues, one receives:

• A subscription to the monthly Physics Today magazine
• A subscription to the quarterly The SPS Observer publication
• Access to the online Journal of Undergraduate Research in Physics
• Career Placement Services
• Eligibility for SPS scholarships, internships, research and travel grants, fellowships, and other awards
• Information and announcements about regional, national, and international SPS meetings
• Free membership with one American Institute of Physics (AIP) Member Society for undergraduates only, for up to three years.
