Who am
I?
Hi! I am Sen Yang, just call me Sen.
I came from China. My hometown is Qingdao (Tsingtao)(Here is a map).
Have you ever heard of Tsingtao beer? Qingdao has a beautiful seashore
like San Diego. It is also the center for ocean
research. Qingdao will be the host of 2008 Olympic Games Sailing
and Windsurfing games.
In 1998, I went into Tsinghua
University in Beijing and was selected to study in Academic Talent
Program. We have strict training in Mathematics and Physics. I did
research on theoretical condensed matter physics with Professor Bangfen
Zhu in Center for Advanced Study Tsinghua University(CASTU).
During the summer of 2001,Mr.Zhai in CASTU and I worked with Professor
A.Zee from UCSB in random matrix approach to one dimension quantum
hopping. This paper was published in Chinese Physics Letter. I got
my Bachelor Degree in Tsinghua University in July 2002.
I have broad interests. Beside science, I read books
on history, geography, literature, military, economy, politics,
philosophy and art. I like listening
classical
music. I used to be a computer game
fan.
I spend
most of
my Sunday
time
either
hiking
or making models at home.
For sports, I like running(because running is the
easiest sport in the world). I participated in Beijing International
Marathon
in 2001 and Terry Fox Marathon for Hope. Also I won medals on chinese
martial(Taiji Boxing). I even have a license as a referee of volleyball.
Sailing and kayaking are also my favorite sports.
I came to Department
of Physics UC San Diego in the Fall of 2002 as a graduate
student. I am in Professor
Butov's group. The research is mainly in cold exciton in semiconductors.
