Hello and welcome to the homepage of Wouter-Jan Rappel.

I am a research scientist in the Department of Physics at the University of California, San Diego, which is located in beautiful La Jolla. I also play an active role in the newly formed Center of Theoretical Biological Physics (CTBP). The CTBP is an NSF-sponsored Center which has been founded on the campus of UCSD as a partnership between UCSD, The Scripps Research Institute, The Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the San Diego Supercomputer Center. To find out about the activities of the CTBP, please visit their website.

My research interests are diverse and include cardiac dynamics, cellular signalling, pattern formation and nonlinear dynamics. By navigating the bar to the left you can find out more about my research interests. In addition, you can check out my publication list, C.V., and a list of links.

My research is sponsored by a variety of sources: the Whitaker Foundation, the National Science Foundation and through contracts with SPAWAR in San Diego.
