Here is a list of other references for this course (on
reserve except for the last one). It is always useful to complement the textbook
(TM) by reading other material.
- V.Barger and M.Olsson, "Classical Mechanics: a Modern Perspective": not as
comprehensive nor technical as TM, but provides good physical insight and
discusses interesting examples.
- H. Goldstein, "Classical Mechanics": a classic text, well written,
somewhat different organization and emphasis than TM.
- V.I. Arnold, "Mathematical Methods of Classical Mechanics": nice if you
like a rigourous formal presentation.
- James Gleick, "Isaac Newton": for your free time, nice historical account
.
